“It is not so much for its beauty that the sea makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air, that emanation from the waves, that so wonderfully renews a weary spirit.”
I took this picture at work the other day and it really had me thinking. There really isn’t anything more beautifully humbling than being at sea. It’s immense size and power presses you to the realization that you are tiny and fragile. The view of a clear morning sunrise, with its infinite array of colors shading the sky
from greens and yellows to reds and purples, places wonder and awe into the deepest recesses of your mind. The warmth of the sun as it begins a new day filled with life, brings energy to mind and soul. As wonderful and amazing beautiful as this all is, it is still a broken world…
It makes me wonder, if this is so beautiful, what will a sunrise look like after Jesus returns and the earth is to become a new creation. How much more perfect and grand will it be? I could not even begin to fathom that. If I could , it would be so much more. It would be abusote, perfect in every way. We, Christians, believers in Christ, those that have already passed and those still living, would become… perfect, as we were intended to be, and in His presence. I know it will be quite the show to see the Son rise everyday.
Thank you God for giving me these tiny glimpses of heaven. Thanks for being so perfect and forgiving and righteous, and mostly for loving me in my imperfection.
When you’re in town you’ll have to come worship with me and Katie at http://www.cotrni.com.
